Peter 3:10-11 – But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives.
I am at the age where I do not mind if people watch me. It used to be the case that I would feel self-conscious, and it made things harder to do, since I wanted to be more careful and not make a mistake. As I have matured, I have gained confidence in my abilities, and I do not feel bad if I make a mistake. We all make mistakes. More important than the mistake — is the recognition that I can forgive myself, correct myself, and move on.
This passage from 2 Peter sounds potentially ominous. Jesus is going to return, and I need to be ready. I have confidence that I am a follower of Christ, and I do not make it a point to be in sin. The Holy Spirit is a terrific guide, and easily provides the will and the power for me to keep my heart set on God. What kind of person should I be, and what ought I do? I am one who seeks the Lord’s guidance, and I feel empowered to walk in holiness every day. How about you?
